Kauno Energija, the district utility company in the Lithuanian city of Kaunas, will upgrade and extend its district heating and hot water supply system with €35 million in support from the European Investment Bank (EIB). The EIB loan for the energy improvements in Kaunas, which is Lithuania’s second-biggest city and is located in the central part of the country, is backed by a guarantee from the European Commission’s InvestEU programme.
The Nordic Investment Bank (NIB), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and LTG Link have signed a financing agreement for the purchase of electric and battery-powered trains.
The European Investment Bank (EIB) is lending €105 million to Lithuanian utility Ignitis Group to expand a key pumped storage hydroelectric power plant. The project involves installing a fifth pump-turbine unit at the Kruonis Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Power Plant, or Kruonis PSHP, making it one of the largest energy-storage facilities in Europe.
